Our oldest and most experienced mechanic, Gunnar Ingvaldsen, has, together with one of our youngest mechanics, Eirik Heggenes Anuglen, carried out an extensive overhaul of a Caterpillar 3412 engine. This engine serves as a backup for an offshore crane and has now undergone a Major 1 overhaul.
After the overhaul, the engine is placed in our engine storage, where it is kept at a stable temperature. Here we ensure that the oil pressure is raised and the engine is turned three times a year. Before the engine is sent offshore, it is thoroughly tested in our engine brake to verify that it delivers the expected power and functions optimally. This ensures that the engine is in perfect condition and ready for use when it arrives at the offshore installation.
