Apprenticeship over for new employee in AMS

Good news for AMS when Patrick Johnsen completed his apprenticeship on Friday, June 28 and passed his trade test. Patrick came to us a year ago after one year of apprenticeship at another company, and has since then been an eager apprentice in the motor mechanic profession. We would like to congratulate the new engine mechanic with his certificate.

We had a brief chat with Patrick when he had received the assignments in connection with the trade test. Here he seemed to be in good order.

Why did you want to become an apprentice in the trade, and how did you end up in AMS?

Patrick talks about his interest in engines, including cars and motorcycles.

  • I find engines interesting, and I think engine mechanics are exciting because you can travel the world for work. It's also more varied work.

  • I heard about AMS through someone I used to work with, who recommended AMS when he had worked here himself.

What interests you most in the motor mechanic profession?

  • Overhauling engines, especially being able to go out and overtake. That's the best part.

How have you experienced your apprenticeship?

  • It's been really good. There are a lot of great colleagues, a lot of work and always something to do.

How was the transition from student to apprentice?

  • It went very well, but entering working life was a little different.

What do you think about the professional test?

  • The tasks seem straightforward, and the examiners are handsome. I thought the test would be more difficult, so I think it's fine.

How is the motor mechanic trade test conducted?

  • I got the test with the assignments today and have the last day on Friday, so it lasts for four days. I work a lot on my own while the examiners come by and check when I'm working, then there will be some theory on Friday before the evaluation.

What are your plans after completing your apprenticeship?

  • Continue here in AMS.

Patrick is a keen learner and an enterprising employee, and was immediately offered a permanent position. He is now employed by AMS as a travel mechanic. Once again, we congratulate Patrick on passing his apprenticeship test and wish him the best of luck in his future career as a new engine mechanic.
